history

Gabriel is a college student in a major town, where he is friends with Maren in a Psychology of Drugs course, and meets Colin Cox. He and Colin begin a relationship, over the course of which Gabriel discovers that Colin is a human+ mutant level register IV (threat), and a few months into the relationship, Colin discovers that Gabriel is part of a anarchist group heading mutant integration, social rights, and registration dismantling. Despite their differing political views on the necessity of the registration ordiance, they continue their relationship past the end of the story, keeping it mostly private and with Colin dating people outside of their relationship with Gabriel's blessing.

De Novo takes place in an alternative near future where human+ mutants are subject to registration in most industrialized countries to monitor and control their numbers and keep track of particularly dangerous power types. Gabriel was born of non-mutant human+ parents (registered non-mutants with mutant parents or grandparents). His power is phototrophic, and he displays a distinct oil-slick type skin patterning, as well as having yellow scalera and red irises.

personality

Gabriel is outwardly a bright, personable young man, full of smiles and good cheer. He always has a joke and tries to lighten the mood every chance he gets. He's a bit of a flirt, but aware that his height and strange appearance doesn't make him the most approachable person in the world, even if he is only a level II mutant.

Gabriel is also deeply passionate and political. He has been since he was very young. Because almost everyone in his family is registered (even his parents, who have no presenting mutantions), he has a lot of very strong opinions about the damages that the mutant registration act has done for mutants, particularly in America, which already has such a problem with race relations that are only compounded by the MRA.
